As a graduate of Bloomsburg University, Julius received his Bachelors Degree (2003) in Exercise Science with an Athletic Training focus, and later (2005) went on to earn his Masters Degree in Exercise Science with a concentration in Exercise Physiology.
While attending Bloomsburg University, Julius played wide receiver during the 1999 and the 2000 football season, in which the Bloomsburg Huskies were PSAC & Northeast Regional Champions & competed for the Division II National
Championship. While earning his Masters, Julius served as a Graduate Assistant wide receiver coach and also assisted with the team strength & conditioning program. Following his graduation, he then went on to coach the wide receivers at LaSalle University.

As a performance coach, Julius brings a tremendous amount of experience. He has worked as an personal trainer, worked football camps, trained high school, college, and professional athletes, including four international basketball players from Hungary who were preparing for the NBDL (National Basketball Developmental League), an international Basketball player (Wykeen Kelly) from the USA who has been league MVP and won a scoring title in his first two years of playing international basketball, as well as Five times All Pro NFL offensive linemen (Jahri Evans of the N.O. Saints). Along with that, Julius has also trained individuals with Special needs as well as senior citizens.

Coach Smith is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). James is certified by USA Weightlifting regarding proper implementation of Olympic Lifting exercises and program design. James is also a SPARQ certified trainer, which specializes in Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction, and Quickness.
James has been a Strength and Conditioning Coach for the past six years, four of these being in the greater Philadelphia area.
He has had the privilege of working with some of the best teams and individual athletes this area has produced during these years. His expertise has assisted numerous athletes in attaining athletic scholarships to a multitude of different Colleges and Universities. He was LaSalle University’s first Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach and is currently a Strength and Conditioning Coach for Delaware Valley College.

From 2004 to 2006 James was a Strength and Conditioning Coach at the Pennsylvania State University. He primarily worked with the Football team under Coach Joe Paterno where he earned a Big Ten Championship in 2006. James worked with the boxing, cheerleading, lacrosse, field hockey, baseball, and ice hockey teams while at Penn State as well. Coach Smith received his Masters degree in Health Education from Penn State. A bachelor’s degree from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania preceded his time at PSU. James is also a Veteran of the United States ARMY as a soldier in “Operation Enduring Freedom” and serving our country for 8 years.
